Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus type 2 (DM-2) is a metabolic disorder characterized by the inability of the body to obtain energy from glucose. Diabetic patients tend to manifest other disorders and be polymedicated, which make it possible to carry out the Pharmacotherapy follow-up (PF). PF was performed in 86 patients with DM-2 who were hospitalized in Internal Medicine section of the High Specialty Center “Dr. Rafael Lucio” for which the Dader method was used. The predominant Drug Related Problems (DRPs) were Interactions. The most frequently associated Negative Outcomes associated whit Medication (NOMs) were non-quantitative ineffectiveness and insecurity. One hundred seventy-six interventions were performed, predominantly those of pharmaceutical orientation to the patient and being performed mainly before this one. It is possible that the DRPs and NOMs that were founded are related to the polypharmacy and the age of the patients.
